Why I'm Passionate About "Reimagining Recess"

 Hi, I'm Renée. As a Child & Youth Care Practitioner (and a mom!), I've seen firsthand how a stressful, chaotic recess can negatively impact a child's entire school day.

But I've also seen the other side.

When I was in elementary school, my Grade 6 teacher, Mr. Fourt, spent time teaching us games. He showed us how to take responsibility for equipment, practice fair play, and include others. Those lessons weren’t just about sports; they were about building social-emotional skills and character that have stayed with me for life.

That experience is why I created Reimagining Recess. I believe every school can have a playground that is a powerful place of learning and growth, not a source of stress.
